“It’s going to be Sugar Shane Mosley versus Sergio Mora from The Staples Center. It’s actually Sugar Shane Mosley’s 10-year anniversary since being at The Staples’ Center when he beat Oscar De La Hoya. So, now, he’s coming back,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, a company responsible for putting on the event on September 18th, 2010.
Hall of famer, three time world champion Sugar Shane Mosley (46-6, 39KOs) and Sergio “Latin Snake” Mora (22-1-1, 6KOs) will do battle in the light middleweight division on a Golden Boy promoted Pay Per View card in celebration of 200th anniversary of Mexican Independence Day.
Mora who was scheduled to fight on July 23rd at Pechanga Resort and Casino had to cancel in favor of facing Mosley in September.
“I am exited about this fight,’ said Mora: “I want the name fights and they don’t come bigger than Shane Mosley. This is going to be a great fight. Fans are going to see a lot of speed and a lot of guts. I know Shane and he comes to fight. I am coming to fight hard on Mexican Independence Day.”
Former WBC light middleweight title holder, Mora has been fighting as a full fledged middleweight since recently signing a promotional contract with Golden Boy. Sugar Shane Mosley has been fighting as a welterweight. The will meet in the middle at super welterweight division.
